Water Assessment by Volunteer Evaluators (WAVE)
May 14, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm EDT
This in-person event is part of Lake Friendly Living Awareness month and is sponsored by Keuka Lake Association and Yates County Soil and Water Conservation District.
The rocky streams following into Keuka are the “lifeblood” of the lake. Stream water quality directly impacts the ecology and resiliency in the watershed. By participating in WAVE (Water Assessments by Volunteer Scientists), we will be helping the DEC to identify streams at risk. Participants will learn to sample, identify and report benthic invertebrates (little bugs) in the field. Dress for the weather. Numbers of participants are limited so sign up early.
Maria Hudson: Vice President and Chair Water Quality, Keuka Lake Association
Maria Hudson is a Limnologist, Agronomist, and Environmental Educator who has been working in the water quality field for 45 years. Maria is currently sampling and analyzing waters from Keuka Lake and its tributaries for indications of non-point source pollution.
