SUMMARY:Water and Wildlife Summer Camp Week 1: Macroinvertebrates
DESCRIPTION:Where: Onanda Park\, 4965 County Road 16\, Canandaigua NY \nWhen: August 14-18th\, M-F\, 9 AM- 1 PM \nThis first week of camp is for 6th-8th graders. \nWeek 1 of camp with consist of activities analyzing the invertebrates of the Canandaigua Lake watershed. Campers will learn about the food webs in the Canandaigua area and how invasives are upsetting the balance. Collect and analyze the insect larvae and other invertebrates in the stream beds. The lessons will be led by local college professionals and intermixed with games that simulate the instructional lessons. There will be lots of hiking\, but the week will culminate in a bus ride around the lake to collect water samples and invertebrates for analysis. \nIn 2023\, an additional week of camp will be offered with a different focus.
